This is a PRN position that will fill in on an as needed basis.

Responsible for directing medical services performed within the Emergency Room in cooperation with the Emergency Department Medical Director and the Emergency Department Clinical Services Coordinator. Ability to demonstrate the medical knowledge and competence in the Emergency Room specific to neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Provide appropriate care to patients that present to the Emergency Room (ER) and assure the quality and timeliness of care provided to patients regardless of race, color, sex, creed, national origin, sexual orientation, handicap, age, or ability to pay.
• Provide care to inpatients that have emergencies (i.e. cardiopulmonary arrest). The ED Physician will respond to all “Cardiac Arrest/Medical Emergency” calls.
• Maintain continuing medical education necessary to provide the most up-to-date care to patients in the ER.
• Work Closely with the ED Clinical Services Director and ED Medical Director in developing proper policies and procedure in the ER.
• Participate and perform Improvement activities in the ER.
• Work with the other ED Physicians to provide proper staffing of the ER, which will ensure daily 24 hour coverage. Assist in resolving scheduling problems.
• Take an active role in the Disaster Program.
• Assist the hospital in its community relations activities.
• Participate in regular meetings with Administration, Nursing Services, and other Ancillary Services to help coordinate the smooth functioning of the department.
• As an active member of the Medical Staff, attend Medical Staff meetings and participate in Performance Improvement activities as assigned by the Medical Staff.
• Attend and participate in Mandatory Quarterly Employee Meetings and other employee meetings.
• Perform other collaborative duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or ED Medical Director, including collaborating and consulting with Urgent Care Practitioners in the care of patients.
• Manage and utilize resources in a manner that provides cost effective quality care.
• Complete patient's medical records in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner. Assign patient level of care and provide adequate medical record documentation to justify. Work cooperatively and assist Health Information Management staff in assigning level of care and coding.
• Continually practice and promote Performance Improvement specific to the respective department and in correlation with other departments to provide safe and effective quality care.
• Adequately perform all other duties as deemed necessary for the continued viability of the department and organization as a whole.
Position Requirements
Education: MD or DO
Successful completion of an approved residency training program in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine.
Board certification or board eligible for certification in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine.: Required

Experience: Must be able to demonstrate that he or she is currently engaged in an active medical practice in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine and has worked at least 600 hours in an Emergency Room in the last 2 years; or that he or she has recently completed a residency in family medicine or emergency medicine. Those desiring to hold emergency medicine privileges must also be able to demonstrate their practice includes the provision of care to family medicine patients; and those recently completing an approved residency program must be able to demonstrate that appropriate training was included in the residency program.

Computer Skills: Previous experience with EPIC helpful but not required.

Certifications &
Licenses: Must hold a valid, unrestricted, current medical license to practice medicine issued by the State of Wisconsin, a narcotics license, and be credentialed through the Medical Staff of the hospital.

Must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
NRP certification recommended.

Other Requirements: Mandatory supervision and decision making skills necessary for the delivery of quality care for patients throughout the lifespan.
