Position Description
Pioneer Technical Services, Inc. is currently recruiting a Field\Laboratory Technician for its Materials Testing Laboratory located in Butte, MT. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, committed individual that works without frequent direction. This position will consist of providing Field Quality Control Services and materials testing in the laboratory. The Technician will work under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Manager or Project Engineer. Project experience in general construction, field density testing, concrete testing, soil sampling, and materials testing is preferred but not required. This position is temporary and will end on or before December 31, 2018.

Position Requirements
Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Communicate with Contractor or Site Supervisor regarding testing results and any failing tests or problems.
• Communicate with supervisor to determine project details such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions.

• Inspect project site and evaluate contractor work to detect deficiencies and ensure conformance to design specifications and applicable codes.
• Prepare daily field inspection reports that document project activities and data.
• Conduct materials testing and analysis using provided tools and equipment.
• Ability to compile, analyze, compute, edit and process field data electronically on field tablet.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving history.
• Must be able to lift 50 LBS frequently while working on uneven surfaces.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Associates Degree Preferred, Field of Study: Environmental/Civil Engineering Technology or related field or relevant Environmental Sampling Experience

Experience: Construction experience helpful, but not required.
Computer Skills: Must be able to complete basic computer tasks that include Excel and Microsoft Word.
